Thus far, the interviews here have been restricted to the women in front of the camera. Today’s is different. Today we talk to a man behind the camera, Richard Avery, photographer/videographer/resident personality at Juliland.com.

Blogoporno.com: Let’s start at the beginning. What prompted you and Juli Ashton to start Juliland? What was the conversation that made it happen? Who said the words “we need to make our own site!” and exactly how much did you have to drink that night?

Richard Avery: There was this day when we both were sitting out by her pool, sipping on a couple of mojitos and talking about the future. ¬†We both were looking for something new to do… a challenge. ¬†I had this idea for creating an adult site that would be contemporary, sexy, nasty and most of all fun. ¬†She loved my idea, ¬†believed in my vision and recognized my talent. ¬†Juli asked ‚Äúwhat it would take‚Äù and i said ‚Äúmoney, hard work and some crazy ideas.‚Äù ¬†We both agreed and started the process the next day. ¬†The rest is history!

BoP: You shoot with damn near everyone it seems. Who have you not shot with that you would like to and what would be the theme?

RA: There are plenty of grrls that I plan on playing with. ¬†Everyday I find grrls who get me excited, and grrls always seem to find me. ¬†I‚Äôll never get tired of beautiful sexy nasty grrls. ¬†Never have, never will. ¬†A couple new grrls that I wanna shoot soon are Aiden Ashly and Jayden Cole. ¬†As for a theme… nasty, messy, sexy, wet and lots of orgasms. ¬†What else is there?

BoP: Speaking of the themes of your shoots, who brings those? Do you come up with the theme? Does the model bring it? Do you collaborate? For example, how did you decide on one of my favorite shoots: Lexi Belle as a clown?

RA: I come up with most of the ideas. ¬†I have a sick library of images in my head that I pull from on a regular basis. ¬†Also I‚Äôm an image junkie and I‚Äôm always looking at everything. ¬†The grrls bring ideas, and they always surprise me with how crazy they are. ¬†As for Lexi and the clown… that was my make-up artist collaborating with Lexi. ¬†They locked themselves up in the make-up room and told me to stay away. ¬†A couple hours later Lexi rolled on out and blew my mind!

BoP: I’ve heard you talk about doing marathon shoots, 24 or 48 hours straight of shooting. Besides the obvious question as to why you would ever stop, is that your preferred way of working? Plan for a a day or two of shoots all in a row and then to sleep for a week with visions of Miko Lee dancing in your head?

RA: I love what i do.  I love every bit of it!  I love the grrls and the creative process.  It makes me happy like nothing else.  If i could, I would shoot every minute of everyday.  I did a 48-hour marathon a few weeks ago and i’m planning on another for this weekend.  It’s like an addiction with me.  Wait, it is an addiction.  Once I get started I don’t wanna stop.  Luckily I have grrls who wanna play with me all night long!

BoP: Let’s say I’m a guy who wants to shoot pictures of naked women for a career, after a good hearty laugh at my naivete, what’s your advice for getting started?

RA: First… get some photographic talent. ¬†Second… find a grrl who will get naked for you. ¬†Third… practice, practice, practice. ¬†Last… after you go broke and crazy from doing it, get a real job and be happy.

BoP: What do you want Juliland to be in 10 years?

RA: I want to rule the world. ¬†That is why we stared this to begin with. ¬†We are not doing this to shoot naked grrls and¬†have fun. ¬†That‚Äôs a BIG part of it, but we wanna rule the world. ¬†We have big ideas that will blow everyone away! ¬†Trust me… you ain‚Äôt seen nothing yet!

BoP: Do you have a favorite film or book? Is there anything recent that you really enjoyed?

RA: I’m a big lover of movies, music and television.  I’ve seen it all and can’t get enough. Right now my biggest influence is the band Underworld.  Everything they do musically and visually turns me on and fills me with ideas!  They can do no wrong in my book.  Check out underworldlive.com and see what mean.

BoP: What do you like to do outside of your photography work? Reading? Sports? School? Charity work?

RA: My life is Juliland.com, grrls and fun every minute of everyday. ¬†It‚Äôs so much fun I have never thought of it as work. ¬†BUT if I have to relax… I go to the beach with a grrl friend and chill with the sand and surf.

BoP: Is there anything in particular you’d like to share with my readers? ¬†New projects?

RA: We have big things in the works.  I wanna make some big moves in the next few months.  Hoping to direct my second movie, shoot more jGrrls and most of all have fun.
