Blogoporno.com: Lets start with a fun question. If you could make a video with anyone, and I mean anyone past, present, or future, real or fiction, male, female, or whatever, who would it be and what would you do?

Camille Crimson: This is so tough… ¬†I’m very tempted to say Dita Von Teese, because I have loved my sexual experiences with women and she is my dream girl. ¬†I love brunettes with amazing curves and she just seems so sensual. ¬†That said, I’m the luckiest woman in the world to get to shoot with my boyfriend.

BoP: You’ve stated before that your entrance into making porn/erotica had been a gradual process that started when you needed to raise money after an unpaid web development project. How did being self-employed in another industry before entering the adult industry inform your approach to creating and marketing your own sites? How does it inform your dealings with people you hire or with customers?

CC: Being self-employed means you have to be really on top of things. ¬†I try as much as possible to answer e-mails right away, I make huge lists and schedule my time pretty judiciously. ¬†The other really important thing is to be genuine with the “client” and be as friendly as possible. ¬†That’s why I spend so much time doing social media. ¬†Not only does it help me to figure out what people want from my sites, it also lets me build relationships with the wonderful people who support the work I do.

BoP: I understand that you started your first adult site about 5 years ago. You’ve since gained some recognition from sites like Fleshbot and commentators like Violet Blue. How does it feel to gain that kind of recognition?

CC: It’s a really amazing feeling. ¬†Every time I get featured somewhere, my stomach still does a flip. ¬†On one hand, I feel like beautiful, artistic porn should be featured everywhere, but it still feels like every step forward is breaking down walls in the industry. ¬†On a professional level it’s like changing the genre, but on a personal level it just makes me¬†blush.

BoP: Now that you have Mad Blanket Productions how are you looking to expand? What can we expect to see in the short term? What will we see in the long term?

CC: It’s going to take a while, since we’re still a very small company and we need to get more attention to get the money to pay for more employees/models so we can make more sites… ¬†The eventual goal is to have a roster of really great sites featuring all sorts of different performers filling all sorts of different niches, but done in a really beautiful, creative and socially positive way. ¬†Any kind of porn, be it hardcore, fetish/kink, gay/lesbian/queer, etc can be shot and presented the way we do The Art of Blowjob, so the sky’s the limit.

BoP: Clearly there’s a lot of care invested in your videos, what kind of video/film background do you and your team have?

CC: Mike studied photography and fine arts at art school and then did some extra studies in film. ¬†I have no formal training, but I have always loved film and photography and taught myself Photoshop and Final Cut Pro. ¬†Mostly it’s just about having a good eye in the moment and a solid grip on what you want the final product to look like.

BoP: Being a producer of porn one can assume you might get some harassment from those who are anti-porn, whether it has a religious base or not. Have you received any negative reactions to your outspoken Atheism?

CC: I have some religious family members even though I wasn’t raised religious… ¬†They know what I do and they don’t approve of the fact that I’m atheist either, so you can probably imagine how that has played out. Online, no one is shocked that I’m an atheist, but some random people have been pretty rude to me about the fact that I do porn. ¬†Some jerk on Twitter¬†a month or two back called me immoral. ¬†I can rise above stuff like that pretty easily, but it’s still unpleasant.

BoP: Do you have a favorite film or book? Is there anything recent that you really enjoyed?

CC: I love a lot of films. ¬†Delicatessen is probably my favourite movie of all time. ¬†It’s so dark, but very sumptuous. ¬†In terms of books, I will read just about anything. ¬†I especially love non-fiction and food/cooking books, even though I studied literature in university…

BoP: What do you like to do outside of your modeling work? Reading? Sports? School? Charity work?

CC: Right now, one thing that I do is that I make and edit my own little videos for practice. ¬†I love cooking, so I try to cook at least one really great meal per week. ¬†Something that requires a trip to the farmer’s market and a whole afternoon to prepare. ¬†I am a bit of a gourmand. ¬†I have also dipped my toe into yoga, so I would like to pursue that more.

BoP: Is there anything in particular you’d like to share with my readers? New projects?

CC: Well, there are a number of things on the horizon. ¬†I have a 6 month plan that would make most people weep with stress, but I think that there will be a lot of really beautiful and amazing things coming to fruition between now and winter/spring 2011. ¬†One thing I can let you know is that Mad Blanket Pictures is launching AnikaLush.com – a new website featuring a beautiful blonde named Anika Lush. ¬†Anika loves playing dress up and has probably the most extensive costume and lingerie closet I’ve ever seen. ¬†She likes roleplaying, foot fetishism, pain and bondage, and she happens to be friends with some of the best dommes and bondage experts in our very kinky city.
